Will the classes be in-person or online? 

Who are the academy instructors? 

Sessions will are  Saturday mornings at Urban Scholar Academy, 8473 South Van Ness, Suite 107, Inglewood CA 90305.

 

What is the cost of the program?

What is the attendance policy? 

Weekly attendance is recommended and rewarded. Scholars who have the best attendance and class contributions receive better opportunities to create than those who are absent. Habitual absences will prevent scholars from being apart of the program.

Saturday classes will be led by industry professionals that specialize

in the curriculum’s focus for that particular week. 

What is the enrollment process? 

Urban Scholar Film Academy is focusing on high schools that reside in, are enrolled in, or live adjacent to the city limits of Inglewood, California. Proximity to the community we live in is important developing a communal pride and collaborative spirt that inspires creativity. The Film Academy is a two year program with enrollment ongoing for:  Development Term (October-December), Pre-Production Term (January-March), Production Term (March-April), and Post Production Term ( April-May.) 

What is the academy curriculum? 

We intend to subsidize program expenses with donations from local supporters, in-kind donations from corporations; and grant funding from various foundations that specialize in the arts.

The weekly curriculum will be cover the essential steps of content creation, from pre-production and character development, through scouting, casting, filming and  editing. Scholars will collaborate with their peers and create a finished film to showcase to their family, friends, and film community, .
